Study = Fail
So here’s the deal – I didn’t really come up with anything to say for this shirt. I was going to, I swear I was, but then I put it off. I procrastinated. And dude, you know what? I have a PhD in procrastinology. No one can procrastinate like I can procrastinate. Truth be told, I haven’t even started procrastinating yet – I’m procrastinating that too.
I mean, Shakespeare never studied, did he? –No, seriously, did he? I kind of checked out of my English classes. Anyway, did you know that Albert Einstein actually learned most of what he knows on THE STREETS, after dropping out of high school to pursue his rapping career? What? No, I’m pretty sure I don’t have Einstein confused with Jay-Z. Well, okay, look, I know that Superman’s villain Brainiac never studied a day in his life, and he still like almost destroyed Metropolis like dozens of times.
Okay, maybe you’re right, maybe studying isn’t that bad. Maybe studying is an important part of learning and stuff. But studying still sucks. That’s why from now on I’m only going to study while wearing this anti-studying shirt. And if I start smelling a little ripe? That just means I’ve been doing tons of awesome studying.

But… The math is WRONG… Obviously someone didn’t study.
You have to do to one side what you do to the other, so:
STUDY = NO FAIL
STUDY + NO STUDY = NO FAIL + NO STUDY
STUDY + NO STUDY + FAIL = NO FAIL + NO STUDY + FAIL
And this just leads you nowhere.

Actually, the equation is wrong, as you can only add “study” to one side and “fail” to the other if they are already known to be equal – which they are not, as that is what is being proven. Fail. Someone should have studied more.

You know, if you had subtracted NO from both sides, you would have come to your conclusion alot faster.

so…this is not actually mathematically accurate…fyi…that might make it funnier? (mistake is in line 3, it has different things added to each side which is just not something that you’re allowed to do)

This is assuming both initial statements are identities.
Otherwise
No study = Fail
Study = Fail/No
Then its all shagged up.
This shirt is a fail in itself. That is not how dissolving parantheses works.
Solution: No = (-1). Cannot divide by zero.
This is an example of bad logic. You can’t add a term to one side while not adding it to the other (see line 3).

Yeah, line 3 is pretty terrible. Those two quantities cannot be added together. They both contradict. It’s like adding 1 inch and 5 lemons. Quantities that don’t match. If this shirts was accurate mathematically, I would buy it. But I can’t support a shirt or business that can’t even get math straight.
Shirt will work if NO^2 = +/-1, and since Yes is most logically equivalent to 1, NO is equivalent to -1. Hence the logic works perfectly.
…This isnt correct… no matter how you work it, it comes out to a dead end.

Ok. Let me explain to all you prealgrebra geniuses how this works.
You add function AB=C and B=AC together
AB=C
+ B=AC
——–
AB+B=AC+C
Then you factor out a B from the left and a C from the right, giving you
B(A+1)=C(A+1)
You divide both sides by (A+1) to get
B*1=C*1
If A is the NO, B is the STUDY, and C is the FAIL, you just got
STUDY=FAIL
QED
but what confused me too is that I thought that NOFAIL was actually one thing instead of two distinct numbers.
The third line is irrelevant anyway, since you need to divide by no on the first line, in order to get study. I suppose you could multiply by no in order to get no fail, but then you’d have no^2 study and I don’t even know what that means.
