I really don’t get it. I’m an atheist and I’d buy this shirt! I even own shirts with Jesus on them. Do you think a shirt with a pew on it will start controversy or something? People need to lighten up and just accept what you wear!

I don’t get it. Religious implications? A pew is not a holy thing, it’s a seat. It’s not like kitty is shooting lasers at a cross or a bible.

True, the pew is not a holy thing but if you search for definitions, near 100% of search results point you at the direction of a pew being something found in a church.
Persons who follow the teachings of ceiling cat will know what pew pew pew is however the uninformed will look at it with the religious connotations that the OP is trying to avoid.
The cat shooting lasers is super mega awesome. The church pews with crosses on it are not. I’m an atheist. I was just stating my opinion on how the shirt was therefore less awesome.
I agree; I’m not Christian and wearing a shirt with crosses on it? Not really in my plan. This was a total win until that–we have pews in synagogue, too, you know.
It would probably be more awesome, and less religious-y if they put ‘pew pew pew’ under it. That way people would get the joke more. As a jew, I don’t take offense to this and would buy it, had I the money. I don’t think it was meant to be religious, it was a pun.

I was excited when i first saw this, then i saw the pews. i think it would a lot better with out the pews. those weren’t in the original pic so why are they on the shirt?

I’ve been waiting for the “pew pew” cat & at first sight, I was thrilled. I have to agree, I’m torn by the crosses on the pew. Luckily I have a day to think about it. It would be a perfect shirt without the crosses. I would almost feel disrespectful wearing crosses because I am an atheist. It would be really nice if the crosses were left off the shirts.

WIN. i just ordered the cookie reprint and am sort of out of cash, but i might just have to get this one, too. the ‘pew pew pew’ with just a picture of pews has always been on of my fave LOLs. not having the words on makes it more awesome. BTW… am i the only one who doesn’t like the looks of the new ladies’ shirt sizes? methinks they went too far in the other direction. oh well, maybe i’ll order a small and hope for the best. prob take my scissors to the sleeves & neck. ha.
I don’t know why people have a problem with the pews. It’s part of the joke. It even makes the whole thing more intelligent in my eyes (because you can figure the “pew pew pew” out even without it being written there. I actually find this genius – and I’m an atheist too.)

RE: caption, are we really at the point where we have to explain every single joke so everyone gets it? All that matters is the few people who *will* get the joke or connect the pun and their reactions will be worth it.
It seems that the people who are Atheists are more concerned with the crosses than anyone else, religious or not.. So, Atheists, you wouldn’t wear a shirt with a Yeti on it because you don’t believe in them, right? Or a robot? Or a talking cat?

Wow, people need to chill out and stop caring what other people think! It’s not offensive and barely affiliates the Christian Church. So what if it has crosses on it! A cross is just 2 bits of wood put together. Say they’re wonky ‘X’s and there’s treasure in the pew pew pews. I’m a nihilist and I wear crosses all the time; simply because they’re pretty! I’d wear this too if I actually decided to buy it.
